River Island Recalls Pink Floral Handbag for Lead Risk

-

River Island has issued a product recall for its Pink Floral Heat Seal Droplet Bucket Handbag due to elevated levels of lead found on the gold chain, posing a potential chemical risk to consumers. Exposure to lead can have detrimental effects on health, particularly impacting the kidneys and circulatory system, and posing a significant danger to pregnant women. The item in question bears the code 927917.

In a statement regarding the recall, River Island emphasized its commitment to product quality and customer safety, citing excessive lead levels detected during testing as the reason for the recall. While the affected areas are small, they are considered accessible during use, falling short of the brand’s stringent safety standards. Customers are urged to discontinue use of the handbag and arrange for its return.

Although the risk of harm is deemed low, River Island is taking precautionary measures by recalling the product immediately. Customers are advised to cease using the handbag and store it safely until it can be returned. The brand apologizes for any inconvenience caused and assures customers of a full refund.

To facilitate returns, customers can send the product to River Island Customer Service Parcels Freepost, MK17 8EW, for both in-store and online purchases. For inquiries, they can reach out via email at customer.services@river-island.com or by calling 03445 766 444.

In addition, consumers are encouraged to stay informed about product recalls by checking the websites of the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Chartered Trading Standards (CTS) Institute. Notably, Tesco has recalled its Celery Fruit and Nut Salad 300g for failing to disclose the presence of mustard, posing a risk to individuals with mustard allergies. Similarly, Kendamil infant milk and Amazon’s Petiyark Neoprene Swim Vest have been recalled for safety reasons related to expiry dates and buoyancy aid concerns, respectively.
