Joe Exotic, known from the popular “Tiger King” documentary, has paid a touching tribute on social media to a colleague who tragically lost his life after being mauled by a tiger at an Oklahoma preserve. The incident involving Ryan Easley, 37, occurred at the Growler Pines Tiger Preserve, resulting in fatal injuries from bites to his neck and shoulder area.
Following the unfortunate event, the tiger involved has been isolated in a single cage pending the completion of an investigation into the attack. Joe Exotic expressed his condolences for Easley’s death and appealed for authorities not to impose stricter regulations on wildlife preserves.
In a heartfelt message, Joe Exotic extended his sympathy to Easley’s family and emphasized that no blame should be placed on the tiger for the incident. He highlighted the risks inherent in their line of work and cautioned against implementing bans on tigers due to isolated incidents.
Additionally, Joe Exotic criticized PETA for their allegations regarding the treatment of tigers in the preserve, dismissing claims of mistreatment as unfounded. He shared insights into Easley’s ambitions with tigers and expressed concerns over the risks associated with handling these animals.
Animal rights organizations, including PETA and Humane World for Animals, have condemned Easley’s preserve for its practices involving the tigers. Calls have been made for stricter regulations and the transfer of animals to accredited sanctuaries for their well-being.
Easley’s Tiger Preserve, which offers tours and educational demonstrations to visitors, has temporarily suspended all activities in light of the tragic incident. The facility’s website states that tours and encounters will remain on hold until further notice to ensure visitor safety and animal welfare.
