Virgin Media is rolling out a significant upgrade to its TV platform, offering customers three new bonus channels at no extra cost. The telecoms giant has partnered with Rakuten to introduce the new Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST) channels, enhancing the viewing experience for users.
The first addition is Rakuten TV Drama on channel 462, featuring hit movies like The Big Short, Gosford Park, and JFK. Following that is Rakuten TV Comedy on channel 463, showcasing popular comedies such as Big Momma’s House, The Internship, and Bedazzled. Lastly, viewers can enjoy Rakuten TV: Sci Fi on channel 464, providing a range of otherworldly content.
The upgrade will be automatically integrated into Virgin TV 360 and Flex, requiring no action from customers. The channels are easily accessible through the Virgin Media TV guide and can be found using voice control, ensuring a seamless viewing experience.
David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2, emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering exceptional content and value to customers through these new streaming channels. With access to a total of 40 FAST channels, including offerings like British Screen Classics and Inside Crime, Virgin TV customers are now presented with a diverse range of entertainment options.
While a subscription fee is necessary for Virgin Media TV access, the enhanced channel lineup demonstrates a significant advantage over entirely free services.
