Samsung Ends Support for Galaxy S21 Series, No More Updates

-

Samsung has ceased support for three older models of its Galaxy smartphones, meaning they will no longer receive crucial software updates. The Galaxy S21, S21 Plus, and S21 Ultra have been removed from Samsung’s list of supported devices for security updates. While manufacturers typically continue to provide security patches even after Android version updates cease, these specific models are no longer listed, indicating they will not receive further system updates. Owners of these phones, released in 2021, may want to consider upgrading for enhanced security measures.

Initially, Samsung promised four years of Android updates and five years of security updates for the S21 series when it launched. However, as of 2026, these commitments have concluded. Newer models like the Galaxy S25 now offer extended support with seven years of Android and security updates, providing longer device longevity. The Galaxy S21 FE, on the other hand, is still receiving quarterly security updates and is expected to continue doing so for at least another year.

For those contemplating an upgrade, it might be advisable to wait a bit longer, as Samsung is anticipated to unveil the Galaxy S26 series later this month. Speculations suggest a potential launch date of February 25, featuring improvements such as a faster processor, enhanced camera capabilities, a more robust design, and improved battery life.
