“Xbox Exclusive RPG ‘Avowed’ Coming to PlayStation 5 in February”

-

Xbox recently revealed that one of its previously exclusive games will soon be available on PlayStation starting next month.

Avowed, which debuted on Xbox and PC on February 18 last year, is now set to launch on PlayStation 5 almost exactly one year later. RPG enthusiasts can already pre-order the game on the PlayStation Store for £39.99, with the official release date scheduled for February 17.

Crafted by Obsidian Entertainment, Avowed is an RPG set within the Pillars of Eternity universe. Players assume the role of a ‘Godlike’, a mystical entity dispatched as an envoy to investigate a rampant plague in the Living Lands.

The game offers a choice of three distinct classes, each offering a unique gameplay experience based on individual preferences. The narrative is rich with intriguing characters to engage with, and decisions made during dialogues impact the outcome of various quest lines.

In addition to its PS5 debut, Obsidian will roll out a significant anniversary update accessible to PC and Xbox players as well. Notable additions include a New Game+ mode and a photo mode.

Furthermore, players can expect a new weapon type and a new playable race, providing ample reasons for a replay within the Living Lands environment.

Despite receiving limited accolades by the end of 2025, Avowed garnered positive reviews from both critics and gamers alike. Presently, it holds an 80% score on Metacritic, with its solid RPG mechanics and world-building receiving praise.

As it stands, the PlayStation 5 release of Avowed will be digital-only, with no physical pre-order options available yet. While the Xbox version featured a Steelbook, it contained only a digital code in the package.

This move to release previously exclusive Xbox games on other platforms aligns with a common trend in the industry. Additionally, the upcoming debut of Halo on PlayStation with Campaign Evolved later this year continues this pattern.

After a year of updates, trying out Avowed is highly recommended for those who haven’t experienced it yet. While it may not entirely fill the void left by the anticipation for The Elder Scrolls VI, the game, guided by the talent behind Fallout New Vegas, comes impressively close.
