A recent hands-on preview of RGG Studio’s latest project reveals that the updated version of Yakuza 3 promises an immersive and dramatic experience for fans. Sega is set to launch an “extreme” remake of Yakuza 3 alongside a new prequel focused on a key character from the original game.
The revamped Yakuza Kiwami 3 offers a fresh take on the storyline, set in the picturesque Okinawa region. The game boasts enhanced graphics, new cut scenes, and expanded gameplay elements that make it feel like a brand-new title. Players will delve into Kiryu’s life as he manages a children’s orphanage in an attempt to step away from his past as a gangster.
The preview showcased the incorporation of various mini-games and tasks at the Morning Glory orphanage, including a unique ‘Daddy Rank’ system that involves assisting children with quizzes and activities. The mini-games, such as sewing, add depth and engagement to the gameplay experience.
In addition to the orphanage activities, players can enjoy the open-world combat elements of Yakuza Kiwami 3, featuring Kiryu’s signature fighting styles. The game introduces a new mechanic called Baddie Battles, where players can recruit and empower gang members to engage in thrilling clashes.
As for the standalone prequel, Dark Ties, it focuses on a character named Yoshitaka Mine and offers a more traditional crime narrative set in the familiar district of Kamurocho. The game includes underground fight clubs where players can test their skills in different challenges.
