Georgia Hunter Bell, an Olympic bronze medalist in the 1500m, shared her insights with young athletes at the Ealing Southall & Middlesex Athletics Club. Recently, she secured a silver medal in the 800m event at the world championships in Tokyo, narrowly beating her training partner Keely Hodgkinson. Hunter Bell took a break from her busy schedule to visit the club’s Perivale headquarters, where she once trained as a junior.
During her visit, the middle-distance runner mentored the young athletes, participated in a Q&A session, and emphasized the importance of bravery in races. She stressed the significance of discipline in areas such as sleep, hydration, and recovery for optimal performance. Hunter Bell highlighted her decision to leave her cybersecurity job, which ultimately led to her success on the global stage.
Encouraging the club’s members, she reminded them to focus on their individual paths without comparing themselves to others. Hunter Bell’s return to the club was well-received, following the legacy of former Ealing athlete Dame Kelly Holmes in representing the nation.
Peter Flewitt, the ESM membership manager, expressed admiration for Hunter Bell’s achievements and the positive impact of her visit on the young athletes. He emphasized the message that with dedication, support, and belief, anything is achievable for aspiring athletes.
