US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania are guests of honor at a lavish state banquet hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle during their official visit to the UK. A customary French-inspired menu has been meticulously crafted by selected chefs to pay homage to the visiting country.
The elaborate menu for the evening has been disclosed, starting with Hampshire watercress panna cotta served with parmesan shortbread and quail egg salad as the appetizer. The main course features organic Norfolk chicken ballotine enveloped in courgettes, accompanied by a thyme and savory-infused jus. For dessert, a decadent vanilla ice cream bombe with Kentish raspberry sorbet center and lightly poached Victoria plums will be savored.
A selection of fine wines including Wiston Estate Cuvée 2016, Domaine Bonneau de Martray Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2018, Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello 2000, and Pol Roger extra cuvée de Reserve 1998, a favorite of Sir Winston Churchill, has been curated. Additionally, Warre’s 1945 Vintage Port and Hennessy 1912 Cognac Grande Champagne will be served, along with Bowmore Queen’s Cask 1980 Islay.
A special cocktail named Transatlantic Whisky Sour, blending Johnnie Walker Black with marmalade citrus, crowned with pecan foam and a toasted marshmallow on a star-shaped biscuit, has been uniquely crafted for the occasion. Notably, unlike past state banquets, President Trump will not participate in the tradition of a bespoke cocktail due to his abstention from alcohol.
The banquet is expected to be attended by members of the royal family, including the Prince and Princess of Wales and Princess Anne. The event marks a departure from previous state visits, where unique menus were tailored for foreign dignitaries, showcasing the cultural exchange and diplomatic ties between nations.
