UK-based coffee chain Black Sheep has unveiled its festive Christmas menu, and I had the privilege of attending a special wreath-making event to preview it. Black Sheep, known for its high-quality Robusta coffee, introduced its Christmas menu on Wednesday, November 5, featuring a variety of bold flavors, comforting winter drinks, and refreshing cold options.
While sampling the new offerings, one particular drink caught my attention – the Mint White Chocolate Chip Matcha, especially the iced version. Described by Black Sheep as a blend of fresh mint and creamy white chocolate in a festive twist on a matcha favorite, this drink is described as smooth, sweet, and a bit playful.
Although not a huge fan of matcha, I found this version to be delightful, striking a perfect balance between sweetness and bitterness that typically accompanies matcha drinks. Its resemblance to a Grasshopper cocktail, known for its minty flavors, made it even more appealing, reminiscent of a mint-flavored after-dinner treat.
Moving on to the Gingerbread Latte, a quintessential Christmas beverage that instantly put me in a festive mood. This velvety espresso drink infused with warming spices and sweet gingerbread syrup is a winter classic perfected by Black Sheep. The combination of coffee, spices, and sweetness, topped with whipped cream, creates a truly indulgent treat.
Another surprise on the menu was the Fuji Apple, Ginger & Caramel Red Bull Infusion, launched in celebration of bonfire night. This drink combines juicy Fuji apple, fiery ginger, and sweet caramel with Red Bull for a flavorful beverage that energizes you through the holiday hustle and bustle.
In addition to the drinks, we also sampled the Pigs in Blanket Ciabatta, featuring succulent sausages wrapped in bacon with a cranberry glaze, and the Brie & Cranberry Toastie, a blend of creamy brie and tangy cranberry on toasted sourdough with cheese bechamel. While tasty, these sandwich options felt somewhat standard for a coffee chain.
Overall, Black Sheep’s Christmas Menu will be available at all UK locations starting from November 5th. The standout drinks like the Mint White Chocolate Chip Matcha and Gingerbread Latte are sure to be crowd-pleasers for the holiday season, offering a delightful blend of festive flavors and comforting warmth.
