“Hamilton Pressures Ferrari for Operational Overhaul”

-

Lewis Hamilton has reportedly continued to urge Ferrari management to make changes to their operational strategies. The seven-time world champion has faced challenges since joining Ferrari from Mercedes last winter. Despite his efforts, the 40-year-old driver has yet to secure a podium finish with Ferrari and currently sits sixth in the drivers’ standings, trailing his teammate Charles Leclerc by 48 points.

Hamilton revealed at the Belgium Grand Prix in July that he has been submitting a series of “documents” to Ferrari throughout the season in an attempt to turn his fortunes around following a tough start.

Recent reports suggest that Hamilton’s communications to Ferrari have focused on proposed adjustments to the car and the team’s operational processes, particularly the coordination between different departments during race weekends.

According to the Italian publication Corriere della Sera, Hamilton has sent another document to Ferrari’s top management, emphasizing the necessity for comprehensive changes within the team. Hamilton had hoped to have a greater influence on decision-making at Ferrari but has encountered challenges navigating internal politics and facing unfamiliar requests.

Comparisons have been drawn between Hamilton’s situation at Ferrari and that of four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, who also struggled to instigate change during his tenure with the team from 2015 to 2020. Prior to joining Ferrari, Hamilton sought advice from Vettel to prepare for his new team and exchange insights with the fellow world champion.

During the Singapore Grand Prix qualifying session, Hamilton highlighted an area for improvement for Ferrari, noting that both he and Leclerc struggled with maintaining tire temperature, leading to suboptimal performance on their flying laps. Hamilton emphasized the need for Ferrari to address this issue to avoid falling behind competitors.

In other news, Sky has enhanced its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle, now offering HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+, and Hayu alongside 135 channels and complete coverage of Formula 1 races. Sky continues to provide exclusive broadcasting of practice sessions, qualifiers, and races throughout the Formula 1 season, in addition to coverage of various sports leagues and events.
