“Mystery Surrounding Harry and Meghan’s Secret Holiday Revealed”

-

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s secretive six-week holiday before their dramatic departure from royal duties surprised even their nanny, causing distress among some staff, according to a royal author. The couple spent time in Canada in late 2019 before returning to the UK and announcing their decision early the following year. During their stay in Canada, they shared a Thanksgiving message, hinting at their location with a maple leaf emoji. Their son, Archie, stayed with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, during this period.

Archie did not return to the UK until 2022 for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The Sussexes came back alone in January 2020, with Meghan departing a few days later to be with Archie. Buckingham Palace remained silent about their whereabouts in the autumn of 2019 but confirmed they would not be present at Sandringham for Christmas, sparking rumors of discord within the royal family before their eventual announcement.

Royal author Valentine Low detailed the mystery surrounding Harry and Meghan’s pre-Megxit escapade in his book, “Courters.” He explained how the couple’s trip to Canada was shrouded in secrecy, with Meghan keeping their destination even from their nanny until they were airborne. Palace staff grew suspicious about their long-term plans, speculating about a potential permanent move to the US, until Meghan shared their decision with a staff member.

The couple’s relocation was confirmed when Meghan disclosed they would not return, leaving the rest of the team shocked during a meeting at Buckingham Palace in January. Following this revelation, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex surprised the world on January 8, 2020, by announcing their decision to step down as senior working royals. A few days later, a summit at Sandringham, led by Queen Elizabeth II, discussed their future, with key royals in attendance but Meghan notably absent.

After the summit, the Queen expressed support for Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life, acknowledging their wish for independence while remaining a part of the royal family.
