PlayStation Plus members are on the verge of gaining access to the latest selection of PS Plus Extra and Premium games for January 2026. Following a lackluster lineup of PS Plus Essentials, Sony has redeemed itself somewhat with the Extra collection, prominently featuring the acclaimed Resident Evil Village.
Alongside the Capcom survival horror sequel, there are seven additional titles, including standout games that should not be overlooked. Additionally, Sony will introduce a retro game to the Premium Catalog while removing four titles from the Extra tier, details of which are provided below.
Although the announcement was made last week, the PS Plus Extra and Premium games will not be available for download and play until later this week. Specifically, the release date for the PS Plus Extra and Premium games is set for January 20, exclusively for subscribers.
As indicated by the countdown timer in the PS Plus section of the dashboard, the games are scheduled for release at 9am GMT in the UK, 1am PDT / 4am EDT for US fans, and 10am CET for European players.
Resident Evil Village, the Capcom survival horror masterpiece, takes the lead among the PlayStation Plus Extra games for January 2026. Subscribers have a little over a month to enjoy the game before the arrival of Resident Evil Requiem next month.
Joining Resident Evil Village is the captivating Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, transporting players to Hawaii as protagonist Ichiban Kasuga embarks on a quest to find his birth mother.
One game that stands out is Expeditions: A MudRunner Game, challenging players to navigate all-terrain vehicles through perilous routes to complete research missions and deliver goods.
Another noteworthy recommendation is the turn-based roguelike game Darkest Dungeon 2, where players delve into hazardous labyrinths to battle Lovecraftian monsters.
Additional games featured in PS Plus Extra include A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, The Exit 8, Art of Rally, and the engaging puzzle game A Little to the Left.
On the Premium side, subscribers will only receive one retro release for January 2026, Ridge Racer, which is a welcome addition to the lineup.
Unfortunately, alongside the new additions, Sony will remove several titles from the PlayStation Plus Extra Games Catalog starting January 20, including Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, Sayonara Wild Hearts, Monopoly Plus, and SD Gundam Battle Alliance.
