Sky has introduced two new smart home plans in the UK that offer internet-connected cameras with full cloud recordings starting at just £5 a month. This pricing is significantly lower than purchasing a Ring system through Amazon, potentially saving consumers over £100.
The first option includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month, along with a £15 upfront fee. It features full HD video recording, instant mobile alerts, customizable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking additional security, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app features like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized that the goal of Sky Smart Home is to offer high-quality smart technology that is easy to use, manage, and affordable, making home connectivity effortless for customers.
Previously, Sky mainly provided Protect Smart Home Insurance that bundled cameras and alarms. With the introduction of these new plans, Sky’s home security devices can now be purchased as standalone services for the first time, expanding their availability.
In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, discounted by £20. Customers interested in cloud recording access would also need a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month.
