Sony has discreetly launched an enhanced PlayStation 5 Pro console, delivering a significant performance boost just in time for the upcoming year.
The new Model CFI-7100B01 boasts several efficiency enhancements, including reduced power consumption, decreased heat emission, and quieter operation. Despite these internal improvements, the external appearance remains unchanged from previous models, maintaining its sleek and contemporary design.
While game titles will maintain the same visual quality, frame rates, and loading speeds as before, the console itself will operate much more efficiently. These enhancements are made possible by a revamped AMD APU chip, with Sony fine-tuning the processor to reduce power usage by approximately 4%, consequently lowering thermal output.
Furthermore, adjustments to the internal cooling mechanism and heatsink design have purportedly decreased fan noise by around 2 dB. Additionally, the DualSense controller has been upgraded with a redesigned internal circuit board and a higher-capacity battery, extending playtime by roughly 50%.
This latest iteration underscores Sony’s commitment to enhancing hardware and the overall gaming experience for players. Despite these enhancements, there has been no increase in price, with the PS5 Pro Model CFI-7100B01 retailing between £560 and £700 at all major outlets.
