“Tragic Death of 4-Year-Old Sparks Investigation”

-

Authorities are investigating the death of a four-year-old girl and the severe injuries sustained by two toddlers at a residence in southern Manitoba. The Manitoba First Nations Police Service responded to a call at a home in Long Plain First Nation following reports of a young child in distress with injuries on Sunday morning. Tragically, the four-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other children, aged one and two, were transported to the hospital, with one initially in critical condition but now both stabilized.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have taken charge of the investigation due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding the four-year-old’s death and the serious injuries suffered by the other children. Superintendent Rob Lasson, leading the Manitoba RCMP major crime services, expressed deep concern over the incident and emphasized the community’s need for answers regarding the events that transpired in the household. Lasson assured Long Plain residents that the RCMP is collaborating closely with the Manitoba First Nations Police Service and local leadership to address the situation.
