“UK Faces Autumn Snowfall as Cold Snap Hits”

-

Snow is expected to fall in various parts of the UK this weekend as temperatures drop during a cold snap in autumn. According to a new weather map from WXCharts, snowflakes are predicted to cover five areas in Scotland on Sunday morning, including towns in Argyll and Bute, Sterling, Perth and Kinross, North Ayrshire, and Inverclyde.

While the north of England and Northern Ireland will experience rain, the south is likely to have a drier outlook. Surprisingly, snowfall is anticipated despite the return of summery conditions in parts of southern England, with London expected to reach temperatures as high as 25-26C on Friday.

On the same day, Edinburgh is forecasted to have a maximum temperature of 19C, while Manchester and Cardiff are expected to hit 21C, and Belfast 17C. However, the warmth is not set to last, as daytime temperatures are projected to decrease to the low-to-mid teens across the UK by the end of the weekend, dropping to single figures at night.

Although snowfall in Scotland in mid-September is not unheard of, recent milder weather trends have made it less common. The average daytime temperatures in September usually reach around 16C, slightly lower than the 19C average in England.

The Met Office predicts rainy and windy conditions for the upcoming weekend, stating that it will remain unsettled with a shift to colder weather for all by Sunday. Wet weather is likely to persist through the majority of the following week, with the forecast indicating a split between wetter southern and eastern regions and drier conditions in the north and northwest.

Towards the end of the period, temperatures are expected to normalize, with the possibility of returning to a more changeable weather pattern.
