Benjamin Satterley, a prominent English wrestler known as Pac in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in the United States, has passed away at the age of 40. AEW confirmed Satterley’s death via their social media platforms on Sunday. The cause of his death has not been disclosed, although he was seen wrestling on television the night before in a match against Andrade el Idolo in Chicago.
Hailing from Newcastle, England, Satterley commenced his wrestling journey in the U.K. in 2004. He gained recognition in various independent wrestling circuits globally, showcasing a distinctive blend of acrobatic maneuvers and a well-built physique. Transitioning to World Wrestling Entertainment in 2012 under the alias Adrian Neville, he excelled in NXT and the cruiserweight division until 2018.
Joining AEW in its inception in 2019, Satterley engaged in high-profile matches and secured multiple titles, including the inaugural international championship. Renowned for his finishing move, the black arrow, he was dubbed “The man that gravity forgot.” Portraying a villainous persona as “The Bastard” in the ring, he occasionally injected humor into his performances, notably in a memorable encounter with Orange Cassidy in 2020.
While maintaining a private personal life, tributes poured in from colleagues following his passing, highlighting his talent, humility, and dedication to wrestling. AEW CEO Tony Khan and fellow wrestler Josh Alexander expressed their admiration for Satterley’s exceptional qualities and contributions to the sport. Satterley’s demise marks the second loss of an AEW wrestler within a month, following the passing of Andy Williams, also known as The Butcher, in September. Williams, a guitarist for Every Time I Die, died at the age of 48 after collapsing at a wrestling event in Pittsburgh.
Satterley’s infrequent social media presence included a recent photo with Williams, underscoring their friendship. His sudden death has left the wrestling community mourning the loss of a respected performer and friend.
