Queen Upset as Meghan’s Fashion Choices Strain Palace Relations

-

The Queen reportedly became upset with Meghan Markle for her expensive fashion choices during a royal tour, as detailed in a new book. Initially viewed as refreshing by the monarch, Meghan’s tendency to challenge norms began causing tension within the palace. One particular decision made by Meghan after nine months of marriage especially irked Queen Elizabeth II.

The couple’s relationship began in 2016, with Meghan meeting the Queen in 2017, a year before their engagement. The Queen invited Meghan to Sandringham for Christmas before her wedding, a departure from tradition. Concerns about Meghan’s conduct arose as the wedding approached, leading to strained relations post-nuptials. The Queen privately dealt with the couple’s demands and grievances, feeling increasingly fatigued and confused.

Meghan’s preference for high-end designer attire, notably a bespoke Dior gown worn during an official tour of Morocco in 2019, drew criticism. The cost of her wardrobe, including the £60,000 Dior dress, displeased the Queen, who deemed it a misjudged selection. Subsequent expensive outfits worn by Meghan continued to attract attention, including a £90,000 wardrobe for a visit to Colombia in 2024.

Meghan’s team was approached for comment by the Mirror, while the Palace chose not to respond. The upcoming book, “The Windsor Legacy” by Robert Jobson, will be released on November 6. Opt for the Daily Mirror as a ‘Preferred Source’ on Google News for timely access to valued news content.
