“Apple’s Upgraded AirTag: Enhanced Tracking and Improved Precision”

-

Apple’s AirTag is a must-have for those who frequently misplace their belongings. Launched in 2021, these compact trackers have gained popularity for their ability to pinpoint lost items on a map. AirTags are versatile and can be attached to keys, bags, laptop cases, or luggage.

The latest AirTag iteration boasts an upgraded Ultra Wideband chip, enhancing its tracking range. Apple claims that this enhancement improves Precision Finding by up to 50%, making it easier to locate items from a greater distance. Additionally, Precision Finding is now compatible with select Apple Watch models, allowing users to locate lost items directly from their wrist.

With a redesigned internal speaker, the new AirTag emits sounds that are 50% louder, aiding in locating it in hard-to-reach places. AirTags leverage Apple’s Find My network, which utilizes nearby Apple devices to relay location updates anonymously. Apple has emphasized privacy with AirTags, ensuring that location history is not stored on the device and all communication with the Find My network is encrypted end-to-end.

The updated AirTag seamlessly integrates with Share Item Location, an iOS feature enabling users to securely share an item’s location with trusted individuals, such as airlines, for the retrieval of lost belongings. Apple has collaborated with over 50 airlines to support this feature.

The new AirTag is now available for purchase on apple.com/uk and the Apple Store app, with in-store availability coming soon. Prices start at £29 for a single AirTag or £99 for a pack of four, offering a more affordable option compared to the original, which started at £35 at launch.
