“Gmail users can now change email addresses globally”

-

Millions of Gmail users are soon getting the option to change their email address to a new one. Google had previously hinted at this update, and it is now being rolled out globally. In an update on the Gmail blog page, Google stated that users can switch their Google Account email from ending in gmail.com to a new address ending in the same domain.

This change could be beneficial for users who want to update their email address due to personal preferences or changing circumstances. However, Google mentioned that this feature is gradually being made available to all users and may not be accessible to everyone at this time.

The new system allows users to have both old and new email addresses coexist, with emails sent to the current address automatically forwarded to the new one. Google assures that all account data, including photos, messages, and emails, associated with the original address will remain unaffected.

To check if you can switch to a new Gmail address without losing emails, follow these steps:
– Visit myaccount.google.com/google-account-email on your computer and sign in if required.
– Click on Personal info in the top-left corner.
– Select Email, then Google Account email.
– Under “Google Account email,” click Change Google Account email.
– If the option is not available, it may not be accessible to you yet.
– Enter the new username that you wish to use, ensuring it is unique and not previously used.
– Click Change email, then confirm by selecting Yes, change email.
– Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Once done, your new Gmail address will become the primary account email, while the old address will remain as an alternate email.
