A group of British passengers caused disturbance on a crowded flight bound for Benidorm. Reports indicate that one of them attempted to open a door mid-flight, prompting fellow travelers to express gratitude to the French police who intervened. The disruptive men, allegedly part of a stag party, were escorted off the Ryanair aircraft headed from Luton to Alicante after ignoring cabin crew instructions.
Witnesses captured the moment when elite special forces officers were summoned to remove the unruly individuals. According to an investigative source, the situation was alarming, forcing the pilot to reroute the plane to Toulouse, France. It was disclosed that one of the passengers, suspected to be heavily intoxicated, was situated near an emergency exit and made an attempt to open it.
Despite repeated warnings from the crew, the flight captain sought emergency assistance from French authorities. Upon landing at Toulouse-Blagnac airport, members of the Air Transport Gendarmerie Company were on standby. Subsequently, the inebriated individual was taken into Border Police custody for sobriety. Additional passengers were also removed and detained, with one facing potential legal action and a maximum penalty of five years in prison.
CGTA commander Ludovic Fornari commended the professionalism of the responding team and collaborating French units. A police source in Toulouse confirmed the flight diversion occurred around 9:30 pm on Friday. Following the expulsion of the disruptive passengers, the flight resumed its journey at 10:15 pm. A video circulating on TikTok captured the moment of the arrests.
In response, a Ryanair spokesperson stated that the disruptive behavior led to the diversion of the flight to Toulouse. The airline maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct and will continue to address disruptive passenger behavior decisively. Ryanair has voiced concerns about the conduct of British passengers on its flights, with calls for restrictions on alcohol sales at airport bars. The possible consequences for endangering aircraft safety in France include a five-year prison term and a substantial fine.
Individuals charged with being drunk onboard in France or the UK could face up to two years in prison and a significant fine. Ryanair encourages a respectful and hassle-free travel environment for all passengers and crew.
