Ryan Moore Expected to Miss Rest of Racing Season

-

Ryan Moore is not expected to return to racing until next year, according to trainer Aidan O’Brien. The top jockey, who rides for O’Brien’s Ballydoyle stable, has been out of action since early September due to a stress fracture of the femur. Christophe Soumillon has been filling in for Moore during his recovery, winning several Group 1 races aboard Ballydoyle horses.

Soumillon is set to continue as the jockey for O’Brien’s horses, with Wayne Lordan providing support, for the remainder of the year, including the upcoming Breeders’ Cup. Although Moore has been seen at recent race meetings as a spectator, O’Brien indicated that his return to riding will likely not happen until next year.

During a media conference ahead of Champions Day, O’Brien mentioned that Moore is progressing well but emphasized the importance of giving the injury sufficient time to heal. The trainer expressed confidence in Soumillon’s abilities and praised Moore’s dedication to his long-term well-being.
